Reading & Book Signing
SATURDAY
Oct. 3rd, 1pm-3pm |
| |
|
Spanning sixty years of writing, Latinos
in Lotusland brings to life Latino denizens of Los
Angeles and the city's surrounding communities. We're
introduced to disaffected lovers, aggressive lovers,
successful curanderos, teenage slackers, aging artists,
wrestling saitns, aimless druggies, people made of
paper, college students, youths embracing gang life
and others rejecting it, women witnessing miracles,
frustrated filmmakers, and even a private detective
hot on the heels of a presumed-dead gonzo writer.
These actors perform on a stage set with palm trees,
freeways, mountains and sand in communities from East
L.A. to Malibu , Hollywood to the San Fernando Valley,
Venice Beach to El Sereno.
This landmark anthology brings together established
and newer writers alike offering the reader tales
to be enjoyed for their beauty, power and eloquence.

Octubre
October 2, 1968 in México City.
It’s only ten days for the Olympic Games and a
small student's protest has turned into a major political
turmoil. A meeting will be carry out that day in Tlatelolco
(the largest housing complex in the city) and the situation
is extremely tense. A typical middle-class Mexican family
(living in Tlatelolco) will be tragically involved in
the events, when the meeting is brutally interrupted
by the army and thousands of people are killed in the
square in front of their apartment building.
